What is "plating" for?

There are three purposes for plating:

 

1. Decorative By forming a precious metal film on the surface, the beauty of the appearance will be improved. Gold plating, silver plating, platinum plating, etc. are famous. It is used for ornaments and car emblems.

 

2. Corrosion resistance The most used metal around us is "iron", but when it comes in contact with air, it oxidizes and rusts. By covering the surface with "plating", materials such as iron can be protected from rust. It is used for building materials and machine parts.

 

3. Functionality Depending on the metal to be plated, there are features such as "making it easier to conduct electricity" and "hardening the surface". By "plating", its features can be added. It is used for electronic parts of smartphones and personal computers.

 

The "plating" technology is being utilized even in places that are invisible to us.
